Du pain, du vin.. what and where to eat
One of the best place on earth to have a meal is the Provence. There are several nice and good but also cheap and exclusive restaurants in the vicinity of Roaix.

Wine tasting
“A day without wine is a day without sunshine” according to an old saying. There is no chance in the Vaucluse, because both are plentiful. There are many wine tastings where good wine is offered. You can do wine tasting, without obliged to buy.

The most famous  vineyards of the Cote du Rhone are Chateauneuf du PapesGigondas. It is the 2nd largest wine area of the world, with beautiful views over hills and mountains.

Unesco World Heritage has included the amphitheatre and triumphal arch in Orange, Pont du Gard over the River Gard, Avignon the historic centre with the Pope’s fortress-like palace and the much-sung pont d’Avignon and Arles as World Heritage Sites. Make a stop a places like Arles where Vincent van Gogh has made in the ‘yellow house’ his most famous paintings.

There is plenty to discover and in every vacation house you will find a nice book with more than 45 visits (within 1,5 hour drive).

Chateaux. There are several chateaux nearby. Among them in Grignan, Adhémar and le Barroux. It is interesting to visit the Chateau of Suze-la-Rousse, 10 km. You can take part in an extensive wine course in high season.

Lavender

In Provence and the Drome, you will find many lavender fields. From early June to mid-July, they are in full bloom. It is interesting to watch the lavender processing process in Nyons. 20 km, www.distillerie-bleu-provence.com

Explore the surroundings

It is definitely worth getting to know this part of Provence better.
For example, visit Vaison La Romaine, an attractive and cosy town near Roaix.
Enjoy the beautiful landscape, with les Dentelles de Montmirail and the impressive Mont Ventoux.
Explore the region’s Roman past: for example, visit the Roman excavations in Vaison-la Romaine, the theatre in Orange, the famous Pont du Gard or the Glanum archaeological site near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
In Saint-Remy de Provence (70 km) and Arles (80 km), there are several ways to discover van Gogh’s many works here. For example, there is a beautiful painting trail in Saint-Remy that leads to the hospital of St-Paul-de-Mausole. This is where he made the most famous paintings (‘Afternoon nap’, ‘The Saint-Paul clinic’, ‘Vase with irises’, ‘The Irises’, ‘The Reaper’, and several paintings of olive trees and cypress trees).
Impressive is to visit Carrieres de Lumieres, located in Les Baux de Provence , about 15 km from Saint-Remy.
